Typing Test 3 Minute Numbers

This is a typing test. It is called a split screen test because the one side of the test consists of the subject matter to be typed and the other side is where the typing will be done by the applicant. The test will be timed and ample warning will be given when the test will start.

It will have a time limit of 3 minutes and enough words so that an accurate speed can be measured.

The results of the tests will be given to the Administrator in two ways.
The first will be in a “words per minute” or WPM calculation; for example “47 WPM”. This will be calculated as follows: For the purposes of WPM measurement a word is standardized to five characters or keystrokes. Therefore, “shape” counts as one word, but “rhinoceros” counts as two. “Let’s talk” would also be considered as two words, because the space key counts as a keystroke. The Number of five key stroke words typed per minute are then calculated and returned as the first result.
The second score is the error rate. This score is an accuracy percentage — which is simply the number of words The Applicant got right compared to how many total they typed. For instance, 90% accuracy means they averaged 9 out of 10 words right.)
